't was that the first book was not really new, the second was pretty new and the last one either was to be printed or had just been printed. 5-10 years between the first and the last. 1) the plot in different books was very much separated in time, like couple of centuries, or a few generations apart because that's how the time flows, that's the speed of inventions and their implementation acoording to those books. I remember I was puzzled whether main characters were the same, because that would appeal more, or they were different, it's only that the author's universe was the same. Anyway, in my dream it was a masterpiece, a magnificent combination of hard science (like, the hardest) and character, plot development. The theme going through all three books was that a technology can ran away, it certainly leads to unpredictable developments and complications, it leads to great achievements, progress, happiness and it can be dangerous and scary. Any general technology, knowledge is completely neutral, its our interpretation that makes them benign or evil (we are also able not to get the point of discovery, not to see its possibilities and to stall miserably while it's already possible to move on. If you don't screw up ending with killing everyone, the humanity will go on, and each next stage of development makes us harder to kill. While it may not be true in reality, and I'll never know that, that was the message there.
I wish I could steal a book from a dream. Skip expensive treasures, give me those libraries.
